Frequently asked questions
Is this shoe compatible with standard clipless pedals?
Yes, the Hellion Elite Clip BOA® shoe is fully compatible with standard clipless pedal systems. It is engineered with several features to optimize cleat engagement and versatility:
- It utilizes a dedicated ClipGrip rubber outsole.
- The shoe features a 40 mm long cleat box with index markings, which provides an extended runway for micro-adjusting your cleat position (fore/aft) to dial in your perfect setup.
Can I adjust the fit while riding?
Yes, the dual Li2 BOA® Fit System allows for easy, multi-directional, and micro-adjustments on the fly. Whether you need a tighter lock for a technical climb or a slightly looser feel for a descent, you can dial in your perfect tension without stopping.
Does this shoe offer robust protection?
Yes, the Men’s Hellion Elite Clip BOA® is engineered with premium features to provide robust protection and durability for demanding Enduro and gravity riding:
- D3O® Technology: Features integrated D3O® pads for top-of-foot impact protection and an insole equipped with D3O® High Impact Zone technology to absorb vibrations and reduce foot fatigue.
- Rugged Construction: The Cordura® upper is highly abrasion-resistant, and a TPU mud guard offers an extra layer of defense against trail debris.
- Impact Shielding: The BOA® dials are guarded by a custom-molded KPU Rampart, ensuring your fit system remains protected against trail impacts and debris.
Is this a dedicated clipless cycling shoe?
Yes, the Men’s Hellion Elite Clip BOA® is specifically engineered for clipless mountain biking, catering to Enduro and Gravity riding styles.
Its design prioritizes maximum power transfer and stability:
- Stiff Platform: It features an RC PowerDrive nylon shank which contributes to a very stiff Level 5 Flex rating (the stiffest for Ride Concepts’ clipless offerings). This minimizes foot fatigue and maximizes pedaling efficiency.
- Cleat Adjustability: The shoe includes a long, 40 mm cleat box with index markings and an extended pocket runway, allowing riders precise cleat placement customization.
- Outsole Grip: The ClipGrip rubber outsole ensures reliable cleat engagement and stability on the pedal, while the Hexagon pattern with reverse hex relief on the toe and heel provides excellent grip during hike-a-bike sections.
Does the shoe protect the BOA dials from impacts?
Yes, the Hellion Elite Clip BOA® features a custom-molded KPU Rampart specifically designed to shield the BOA® dials from trail debris and accidental impacts during aggressive riding.
