Product Performance
Different terrain and riding styles can benefit from specific shoe features. Grip, protection, weight, and breathability are all factors that can affect your on-bike experience.
Level 4 Flex provides a strong power transfer to the pedal, support for long descents, and enough compliance for a secure pedal connection while offering a small amount of trail feedback.
Our medium volume last can accommodate a vast range of foot shapes, but an average volume foot will be most comfortable. Larger feet will be comfortable sizing a half-size up.
I had seen these for awhile and wanted them, but they were a bit more than I wanted to spend on mtb shoes, so when they went on sale I jumped on it. At first I was experiencing some irritation in some areas of my ankle and the top of my foot, but I think I was tightening the boa down too much. After I came to terms that the toe area just couldn’t be tightening down much, I got use to the feeling of them being a bit looser. I’m coming from the Helion Elites, which I really liked. Every ride these seem to break in a bit more which I’m happy with. I love the grip on the pedals and the boa is so convenient.
Overall excellent shoes. Sticky under soul rober ready is sticky. A bit to stiff around ankles. Straps are to long which makes impossible to titan BOA cable ...
They felt a little stiff coming from my trail cross shoes. But even the first ride didn’t cause any discomfort, and after a few they feel great. I did go down from a size 9 to a size 8.5 based on reviews and they are great.
I really like the look of this shoes and the Boa system is really convenient, but my issue is with the fit, when I first try them, it seems fine but after first my actual ride in this shoes my feet felt really beat up, I tried to loosen up the boa, it helped a little but not significantly. And now since I ride in them already I can't even return them.
This is a good and sturdy shoe. I was hoping to replace some old 5.10 Impact mids that I was using at the bike park and for fall riding. The Tallac starts off with a pretty stiff cuff on it that takes more than a few rides to break in and soften up. Also the boa might be cranked all the way tight if you have a narrow foot. Foot support and build quality seem to be great so far.
